Some FAQs About Us

a platform reimagining grocery with community curation.

Metric Bohemia is curating stakeholders in a way that totally unites society around clean practices and open dialogue in the framework of grocery and all of its components.

  • farmers
  • investors
  • manufacturers
  • customers
  • chefs
  • bakers
  • hosts
  • friends
  • neighbors, and more.

Traditionally speaking, stakeholders in grocery were divided into two groups

  • the customers(friends and neighbors) usually were met with
  • the gatekeepers (dinosaur grocery proponents) and

and overtime the gatekeepers fought for smaller and smaller margins (including governmental credits) which lead to an unchecked system where micro inefficiencies grew into an overall inhumane and wasteful elephant in the room: the modern grocery system where everything is cheap, at everyone and everything’s expense, masking the normalization of those very same inhumane and wasteful practices leading to a destructive cycle.

Today, when you go to any modern grocery store, in person or online, it is quite clear the system is messed up, and more recently, the pandemic showed us that in reality, if the shit hits the fan, people are gonna starve.

Quick side note: Sure, many things are cheaper(at face value), but in reality, things become more expensive long term (human health, nature health), and that was especially felt during the pandemic.

So, whats left is the ones who can afford to live in such a society survive (minimally), whereas the ones who cannot afford to live in such a society suffer. (Big picture: everyone suffers because society is only as strong as the weakest link).

And because of this, society is divided and by reimagining grocery with curation, we have a meaningful opportunity to bring everyone together on the most vital point in life: food.

Currently, we have only one location in our main warehouse and headquarters in Narashino Chiba, but we are working to provide Refillery’s in Tokyo and other locations in Japan where demand is high. We have an open dialogue on our platform where members can request Refillery locations in a transparent and effective manner.

This is a tough answer today as there are not many companies in Japan who are producing Zero Waste Vegan products and services around grocery, but this number will increase overtime. This is why we chose to include Plant Based Incubator into our business model as a way to future proof and help build the environment which enables us to thrive. If you are someone or know someone who produces Zero Waste Vegan products and services, please feel free to reach out and apply to Metric Bohemia Marketplace. The service charge varies from category to category, but overall we are very competitive on platform fees as we have learn some providers charge anywhere from 8% to 35% per transaction. We are very friendly on fees so hurry up and apply!

The products & services by National vendors Refillery’s will vary location.

We have all the information on Plantbasedincubator.com for those interested. Essentially, if you have an awesome idea for a product or service and it happens to be Zero Waste Vegan, we help usher your idea from seed investment to product placement. Please see our dedicated site for more information.

The main purpose for our Bohemian card is to provide 3 key points to our members:

  1. Members get access to everyday low prices with basic and premium Bohemian Card memberships.
  2. Members have access to a variety of ways to save money on groceries including discounts, badges, points, and coins.
  3. Member get access to “plus” services that provide a better shopping experience that saves them time. E.g. weekly item drop for members only.

Customers can purchase Cloud Grocery as a guest, but will have to pay full price. Guest shopping is not available at Refillery’s.

Community curation is the way in which our founder decided to bring stakeholders together online and in person(specifically in a way the streamlines efficiency in the community experience while keeping clean practices in the production of goods and services sold by Metric Bohemia).

Members can interact online and through the app with Forums, Groups and various adventures or quests that can unlock specific “goodies” like cart discounts or free merch.

Finally, members can meet at events and workshops in person or online which helps facilitate the education for developing a mature Zero Waste Vegan society.

No, all attendance requires a Basic Bohemian Card membership(free).

Mix & Match is the way. members can buy bulk online as they would in person. Essentially, if you want 10 grams of Oats and 20grams of this or 200 g of that, well now we offer that and this is a very basic example but we have very extraordinary offers where members can create their own herbal tea mix or specialty coffee blend by mixingn and matching the options available online. The Mix & Match service is especially useful when purchasing fresh produce from a specific Veganic farmer where members can specifically choose the precise amount of produce instead of having to buy in on something they are not particularly interested in. As a result, the farmer is then able to harvest more efficiently as the orders come in.

This is the option available to members who know exactly what they want and how often they want it. In doing so, members get a certain discount at checkout for subscribing to one of the many products we carry.

So, Metric Bohemia has reimagined grocery with transparency at the onset meaning all stakeholders are available, and incentivised to meet in person and online in a unique and profound way which creates less pressure on the grocery system and more opportunity to keep a creative flow that builds efficiency in a more humane way towards food security and climate resilience.

That means, we have entered an era where division doesn’t work anymore. If you are a producer and not willing to be public, it is in your loss when public producers gain greater marketshare. The people have spoken.
